Cass Scenic Railroad’s 103-ton Shay No. 11 heading up (or rather, footing up) a four-car train about to ascend the steep grade up Cass Hill to Whittaker Station, the site of an old logging camp. No. 11, built in 1923, spent its working life in California on the Feather River Railroad. It arrived in Cass in 1997.
