Hagerstown Roundhouse Museum
Although its namesake 25-stall roundhouse was demolished in 1999, this small museum does a nice job of evoking what was for more than a hundred years a major hub of the Western Maryland Railway. The museum is housed in the only building that remains from an extensive complex that included the roundhouse, locomotive repair shops, a large coal tipple and many other structures – all of which are depicted in the museum’s collection of vintage photographs. There are also many railroad artifacts on display, plus three large model railroads.
