The Remains of an American Colossus

Iron and steel have been made at this site in Bethlehem, PA for almost 140 years, from 1857 to the closing in 1995 of the Bethlehem Steel blast furnaces shown here. The company produced the steel used in such iconic American structures as the Golden Gate Bridge, the George Washington Bridge, and Rockefeller Center.
