Cass Scenic Railroad
Cass Scenic Railroad’s 100-ton Heisler No. 6 under steam at the Cass shops. No. 6 was built in 1929 for the Meadow River Lumber Company of Rainelle, West Virginia, and acquired by the Cass Scenic Railroad in 1968. Unlike Shays, which have vertical cylinders on only one side of the locomotive, a Heisler’s cylinders are mounted at an angle on both sides.
