The Rebuilt Roundhouse and Turntable

When the Park Service took possession of Steamtown in 1986, only two sections remained of the original 1902/1937 roundhouse, and the 1911 turntable had been removed long before. It took until 1996 for a new visitor’s center, museum, and roundhouse to be built in the full-circle configuration of the original. An operating replica of the original 90 foot turntable was also constructed.
